The seven ranks of the Order, from Novice to Magister, with the spheres each one spans.

The Order uses seven ranks to describe two connected paths: development in Neoteric Martial Arts and increasing responsibility within the community. Similar stages appear in ancient teachings and modern psychological frameworks. Through years of practice, research, and continuous improvement, we developed the rank system we found most rational and practical. It gives the community a clear structure and enables its members to act as a coordinated whole.

01physical / material foundation

Novice

“The Call to the Path”

To become a Jedi Novice of the Order, you need to acquire a basic training suit and your own duelling-grade lightsaber. Your main task before that is to decide whether this practice is right for you. At the end of the probationary period, you have an interview with an officer to clarify expectations and assess your motivation to continue.

02preference / reliable participation

Follower

“Following the Path”

To become a Follower, you must demonstrate basic technical skills according to the Technical Program and sufficient physical readiness. Your knowledge of the Jedi Order Charter, duelling regulations and Etiquette is also assessed. A Follower trains safely with partners, controls the intensity of contact, accepts feedback and follows the shared rules of practice.

03thoughtful / mindful study

Apprentice

“Knowledge of the Path”

This is another technically assessed level. In addition to a comprehensive knowledge of the specified basic techniques, an Apprentice is expected to attend theoretical and outdoor classes, participate in group hikes — prove themselves through so-called trials. An Apprentice can explain the fundamental principles of NMA, identify and correct basic errors, practice independently and apply feedback deliberately.

04applicational / socialisational frontier

Padawan

“Comprehension of the Path”

The Padawan rank also includes a technical assessment. To qualify, you must demonstrate practical knowledge of Neoteric Martial Arts by applying the fundamental principles in varied situations while maintaining awareness, control and safety. The trial tests your fighting skills and personal qualities: self-control, reliability, respect for partners, response to pressure and responsibility for safety. The Padawan trial usually includes a special quest.

05team / collective level

Knight

“Unity with the Path”

Knight is the final rank awarded through a technical examination and is equivalent in meaning to a black belt in traditional schools. A Knight demonstrates mastery of the complete NMA technical system, reliable application under pressure, tactical adaptability, and a clear state of the mind. And the ability to continue developing autonomously. A Knight must also share knowledge within the team and contribute to the community.

06society / outer plane

Master

“Represent the Path”

To correspond to the Master level, you must be an experienced Knight who contributes not only to the internal life of the team but also represents the community’s mission in society. This level has no technical examination, but the candidate must demonstrate a documented contribution to advancing the training system and developing other practitioners.

07global / visionary sphere

Magister

“Be a Guide on the Path”

Magister (Grand Master) is an honorary rank awarded by the High Council to a Master for years of dedication, contribution and leadership within the Order. A Magister safeguards the Order’s long-term continuity, values and direction, develops future leaders, and makes an enduring contribution beyond their own practice or local group.
