How the format evolved
First own event
The first BelFightCon took place in 2006. A small gathering of participants from Minsk and Mogilev brought together technical training, pair work, physical conditioning and meditative practices. Just a year later, the Convention welcomed around twenty participants, including guests from other Belarusian cities.
Format beyond home
In August 2007, we ran a full training day of our own as part of an external event hosted by a kindred club. The programme, instructors and methodology were ours. This experience showed that the format could work beyond the community’s familiar surroundings.
Conquer yourself
The legendary Convention under the motto “Conquer Yourself” took place in 2008. A tent camp near Viazynka, intensive training, pair work, psychological practices and shared responsibility for everyday camp life turned it into something greater than a seminar. This Convention became one of the defining points of reference for everything that followed.
Seven-day non-stop
By 2012, the programme had grown to seven days. That was enough time not only for a series of classes, but also for a shared rhythm of life: exertion and recovery, learning, quests, camp duties, conversations and reflection on the experience. Even so, every programme remained packed and highly intensive.
More than Conventions
Open events in Belarus
Eight independently organised open events marked an important chapter of our time in Belarus, but they were only part of the story. We joined similar events organised by other schools, won awards for choreographed duels at several Menescon festivals, performed during the Night of Museums, held open training sessions and introduced new audiences to our approach.
Places of the Force
Off-site training became such a natural part of our life that no one could count every session held over the years. We also travelled and hiked together, practising Martial Arts in places of power.
Poland · TODAY
Today this work continues in Poland. We hold annual gatherings, travel to the mountains and into nature, and combine training with hiking.
